ASEAN Secretariat

The ASEAN Secretariat invites Indonesian citizens and ASEAN Nationals with permanent resident status in Indonesia to apply for the following position at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta
Technical Officer Private Sector Engagement
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties will cover, but not limited to, the following:
  • Liaise with the relevant sectoral bodies and authorities, chambers of commerce and industries, business councils, and private‐sector advisory bodies within and outside ASEAN.
  • Propose and implement coherent and integrated programmes and activities to boost trade and investment in cooperation with all relevant public‐private stakeholders withinand outside ASEAN.
  • Set agenda and draft documentation, including papers and briefs for ASEAN Sectoral Bodies and ASEC Management, for meetings and consultations involving public‐private sector entities at the regional and extra‐regional levels.
  • Coordinate and monitor the development and implementation of programmes and activities relating to intra‐ and extra‐regional public‐private sector consultations, engagement and partnership within the AEC Department.
  • Provide administrative support with respect to the implementation of programmes and projects within the functional areas of responsibilities.
  • Facilitate negotiation among ASEAN Member States.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate degree in Economics, Management or an appropriate related field or discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in technical role; or
  • Bachelor degree in Economics, Management or an appropriate related field or discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in technical role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and policy, research and technical skills in the relevant area and ability to acquire them.
  • Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including experience in cross‐cultural environment and international settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.
  • Sound command of English, written and spoken.
General Qualifications
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools; ability to multi‐task, work long and irregular hours, and perform tasks outside the usual job scope; ability to function effectively, independently and as part of a team; and a willingness to travel frequently on short notice.
Remuneration
  • Successful candidate will be offered the post with a probation period of six months and monthly salary commensurate with his/her personal qualifications starting from IDR 5,000,000.

Technical Officer Priority Integration Sectors
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties will cover, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide technical and administrative support to country‐coordinators for the 12 Priority Integration Sectors in ASEAN.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for work on the AEC Communication Plan, including in the implementation of the related programmes and projects.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to Meetings of ASEAN Bodies, as and when required.
  • Facilitate negotiations among ASEAN Member States by compiling data and information as well as drafting inputs, as required, on the functional areas of responsibilities.
Requirements

TECHNICAL OFFICER (TO) – TRADE IN SERVICES

We are looking for bright and self motivated candidates for the position of Technical Officer (TO) – Trade in Services to work with the specialist staff members in the execution of their duties.
The main responsibilities of the Technical Officer – Trade in Services include:
  • Compile and analyse ASEAN Member Countries' trade in services commitments and  services regulations;
  • Assist in preparing meeting documents and reports;
  • Conduct research and prepare papers;
  • Facilitate and service relevant meetings and draft report of meeting; and
  • Liaise with ASEAN government officials and other related parties on the preparation, conduct and follow-up to ASEAN meetings and activities.

The successful candidate should posses the following qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Public Administration, or Business Administration;
  • Competence in economic research and data analysis, project management, and organising meetings.  Knowledge or experience in the conduct of business in services sectors is an advantage; and
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in economic research, consultancy and/or programme management, in a governmental, international, or private sector organisation.
In addition, the following general qualifications are required:
  • Excellent English communications skills (written and oral);
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office tools;
  • Able to multi-task and work irregular and long hours;
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team in a multicultural environment;
  • Able to travel, as and when required; and
  • Knowledge of regional and international economic cooperation and familiarity with ISO 9001-2000 system and procedures will be an added advantage.
TECHNICAL OFFICER (TO), PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE
A Technical Officer (TO) in the Public Affairs Office of the ASEAN Secretariat is a specialist staff providing technical and administrative support for the coordination of outreach activities for the Secretariat. The TO will engage in:
  • Media relations;
  • Event organisation and coordination;
  • Protocol duties;
  • Public education and outreach on ASEAN;
  • Interface with civil society organizations; and
  • Project management.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in governmental/international organizations or private sector involved in public relations/media relations or programme management.
  • Having exposure dealing with a wide spectrum of corporate affairs, community relations, and public communications.
General qualifications and attributes:
  • Excellent English language written skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both English and Bahasa Indonesia;
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office tools;
  • Able to work well in a team in a multicultural environment;
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure;
  • Able to travel, and work irregular and long hours, as and when required;
  • Dynamic and comfortable with taking the initiative;
  • Comfortable interacting with different nationalities and cultures; and
  • Knowledge on ISO 9001 : 2000 is an advantage.

Upon the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, the successful candidate will be confirmed for a 3-year contract. Selected candidate will receive an attractive package consisting of basic monthly salary (starting from Rp. 5,000,000), monthly transportation allowance, outpatient medical reimbursement, hospitalisation insurance, and an annual bonus of a month’s basic salary.
